Bami with Pork and Crab

In the heart of Bangkok, Thailand's Chinatown, tucked along Charoen Krung Road near Wat Mangkon Temple, Tim Dumpling (ติ๋มเกี๊ยวยักษ์) is a classic Thai-Chinese noodle shop known for its no-fuss atmosphere and hearty bowls of Teochew-style noodles.

The menu focuses on comforting staples like pork wonton noodle soup, dry egg noodles with BBQ pork, and their signature dumplings. On a busy afternoon in Chinatown, I sat down on one of the cramped tables in the small dining area for lunch at this famous and popular noodle shop.

I ordered a very classic bowl of bami dry egg noodles served with thick, juicy slices of sweet and savory barbecued pork, a generous scoop of fresh crab meat, a soft-boiled egg, crispy pork rinds, and delicious pork wontons. I topped my bowl with an extra scoop of crushed peanut, green onion, and chili for even more flavor.

I had the choice of ordering noodle soup, but I typically prefer dry noodles with a cup of broth on the side. The broth was flavorful without being too salty, and it went great with the noodles.

The portion was huge, and the service was very fast! Tim Dumpling gets crowded during meal rush, so be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table, share a table with strangers, or arrive at off-hours to get a good seat. The restaurant only accepts cash, so don't come unprepared!
