Thupab Bai Toey, or Pandan Crepes with Mung Bean (ถั่วแปบใบเตย)

Thupab Bai Toey, or Pandan Crepes with Mung Bean

traditional snack in Bangkok, Thailand

Thupab bai toey is one of the most popular Thai traditional dessert snacks, and can be found all throughout Bangkok and across the country. Similar to mochi, this very Thai snack is chewy, sweet, and slightly salty.

This snack is made of sticky rice flour mixed with sweet green mung beans and shredded coconut. It's topped with a powdery mixture of sugar, salt and sesame seeds and garnished with crispy dried golden mung beans. As you can see in the picture above, it also stuffed with the healthy mung beans.

The first impression you have of this snack will be of how colorful it looks. The next impression would be about the texture, which is delightfully soft, but also crunchy. If you've ever had Japanese mochi, the chewy rice snack feels a lot like eating a Thai mochi. All in all, it's a pretty healthy snack (as Thai sweets go).
