Giant River Prawns in Ayutthaya

ayutthaya giant river prawns seafood meal

Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam, is famous for the giant river prawns caught and grilled fresh from the river.

After a long morning visiting all of Ayutthaya's ancient ruins in the city's world-famous Historical Park, sit down by the river and order a plate of giant prawns and a hot pot of tom yum soup.

The prawns aren't exactly cheap. One will cost about 300 THB (almost $10), however, just one might be enough to fill you up! When they say that the prawns are huge, they aren't kidding.

Side dishes include spicy tom yum soup, fried crispy fish, and fermented lotus stalk salad.
