Tasty egg noodles with BBQ pork, Vientaine, Laos

Delicious BBQ pork noodle
We have arrived in Vientiane, the capital of Laos! Vientiane is a sleepy little city with a population of only 200,000. In fact, it's one of the smallest capital cities in the whole world!

After a lovely morning exploring the beautiful golden temples in the city, we are ready for lunch. I'm a person who loves to try all the local food from everywhere I go, so I always keep my eyes open for a restaurant that looks good. We found this tiny local shop house restaurant near our hotel. It's nothing fancy, but it's very traditional and the food tastes good. Most importantly, all of the food on the menu is CHEAP!

I ordered dry egg noodles with BBQ pork. It's a fair amount for the price. The bowl contains chewy and thick yellow egg noodles topped with minced pork, BBQ pork, and dumplings. I like the fried garlic topping that they sprinkled over the noodles. It adds so much aroma and a nice savory scent.

The noodles are already a bit salty, but you can add a drop of fish sauce, soy, or even chili sauce to fit your tastes. For me, I just wanted to add a tiny drop of of fish sauce. My boyfriend sprinkled a little bit of dried chili over his bowl.

The dish was served with a small bowl of clear chicken broth. I can tell from the smell of the soup that they must have boiled the chicken bones for many hours. It's really nice to slurp on the soup when the noodles get a bit dry.

The restaurant is very traditional, and caters mostly to locals, but they have an English menu and there are lots of travelers who stop by here too. It's pretty clean. They have a wide varieties of Laotian dishes to choose from, so order whatever you like and enjoy!
