Fried Chicken and Sticky Rice for Breakfast in Ari, Bangkok

Fried Chicken and Sticky Rice for Breakfast

Street Food in Bangkok, Thailand

I was in Bangkok's Ari neighborhood (near BTS Ari) early one morning. After buying a can of iced coffee from the local convenience store, I decided to look around for some breakfast. I bought a small box of sticky rice and fried chicken from a local vendor, and sat down on the steps of one of the nearby buildings to enjoy my meal.

This is one of the easiest, quickest, cheapest, and most filling grab and go breakfasts you can find in Bangkok! The chicken is juicy, tender, and salty, and goes really well with the chewy sticky rice. Sometimes the boxed breakfast will come with a small packet of ketchup or sweet chili sauce, but if the chicken is good enough, you really don't even need it!

Price

This breakfast is remarkably cheap - nearly as cheap as a meal could be in Bangkok! The small box of sticky rice and chicken costs only 25 baht (less than $1). Sticky rice is especially filling, so this makes for a fantastic breakfast, especially paired with a can of cheap iced coffee from the local 7-Eleven!

Location

Every morning, local vendors set up their small umbrella-covered carts on Si Fa Alley across from AIS Tower 2 (near BTS Ari). You can find a wide variety of street food snacks, breakfast, and fresh coffee.
