Ipoh White Coffee in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Ipoh White Coffee

by Old Town Coffee, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I always have to have a white coffee whenever I'm traveling in Malaysia! Although teh terik ("pulled tea") may be the national drink of Malaysia, white coffee has got to be a close second. This sweet, rich iced drink is sure to cool you off on a hot tropical afternoon.

Malaysian white coffee is a type of coffee drink that originated in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It is different from other types of "white coffee", which is simply coffee with milk or creamer. Malaysian white coffee is made by roasting coffee beans with palm oil, which gives the beans a lighter color and a rich caramelized flavor.

The roasted coffee beans are then brewed and served with condensed milk, which adds sweetness and creaminess to the drink. The coffee is usually frothed and served chilled over ice. I bought my first cup of white coffee at Old Town Coffee, a famous cafe chain in Malaysia years ago. Ever since then, it's become something of a tradition to sit down for a white coffee at the Old Town Coffee in Kuala Lumpur International Airport whenever I'm passing through.
