A gas station might be the last place you might want to try a pulled pork sandwich... but as anyone who's driven through Texas knows, Buc-ees is no ordinary gas station!

World renowned for their huge mall-sized rest stops, branded merchandise, gigantic sparkling-clean restrooms, and freshly made Texas-style food, Buc-ees is a wonder worth a stop all on its own!

Buc-ees may be best known in Texas for their famous brisket sandwich, but all of the food, which is made fresh at their in-house kitchen and smokehouse, is incredible.

I picked up a Buc-ees pulled pork sandwich during a stop on a recent road trip. All of the barbecue at Buc-ees is made at their in-house smokehouse, and is as fresh and authentically Texan as it can be!

Pulled pork can be dry, but the meat on this sandwich was so soft, tender, and juicy that it didn't need any sauce at all! A pile of pulled pork was laid on top of a buttery bun and wrapped up in foil, which kept the sandwich warm and the bread soft and steamed.

The sandwich was a little pricy - over $7 - but it was a great bite to eat in the middle of a long drive, and so worth the stop.

Location

I visited the Buc-ees in Temple, Texas (just south of Waco on the way to Austin). However, there are several Buc-ees locations throughout Texas and nearby states.
