BBQ Softshell Crab

by Halal Station, JODD Fairs (Dan Neramit), Bangkok, Thailand

JODD Fairs is a super trendy new night market with a few branches open in various locations in Bangkok. Their first location is on Rama IX Road, but their second location is, in my opinion, even cooler!

The other day, I visited the market in the evening to explore the great Thai snacks for sale at the market. In particular, I was excited to visit Halal Cart and try their softshell crab. If you've followed this blog for a while, you'll know that softshell crab is a personal favorite food of mine!

They actually have lots of different snacks to choose from. You can get fried softshell crab, fried chicken, and more delicious fried snacks.

You can choose between crispy chicken skin, fried chicken tendon, fried crab sticks, fried shrimp chins, fried golden needle mushrooms, fried cheese balls, and fried softshell crab. The options all reminded me a lot of state fair snacks in the US!

After you choose what you want to eat, you get to pick the seasoning to put on top. We went with barbecue flavor, but they also offered tom yum, paprika, and hot and spicy seasoning.

The lady working at the shop scooped the crab into a cup, poured in a helping of barbecue seasoning powder, and gave it a good shake to evenly coat the crab in the delicious flavoring.
