For my main course I ordered a plate of egg fried rice with sweet Chinese pork sausage. A good plate of Chinese-style fried rice is a simple yet hearty meal and always satisfying. The fried rice was savory and peppery with pieces of fluffy egg cooked through ought and topped with a generous portion of fried Chinese sweet sausage.

Konchong Konprung's signature dish is their pickled plum and garlic soup with minced pork balls, and that was what I had really come to Saphan Kwai to try. The soup was savory and sour and full of herbal flavor. It really tasted like something a Chinese grandma would cook for her family, and I could see why Konchong Konprung calls itself a "Chinese-Thai comfort food cafe". Inside the soup were a dozen or so soft pork meatballs which were tender and fell apart in the mouth.
Konchong Konprung is located at 109, 1 Sutthisan Winitchai Rd, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, Bangkok 10400. It's a short walk from BTS Saphan Kwai Station.
